Riot Underground (Phase 1)

Began work on the first E.P. from Riot Underground, a heavy metal band in the Motley crue vain from Guildford. Great vox, great riffs. The works. Spent the entire night without sleep preparing Pro-tools sessions and it doesn't BLOODY WORK. AGAIN! ARRRGhhhh!! Thus the embarrassing trudge back to the old grey and blue at 10 in the morning. Bit of an FML moment.

Band were well rehearsed so we managed to get all four drum tracks completed in a few hours. Few close mic'd 57's and a pair of shure KSM's on the distant overheads sounded great and a trash mic in the stairwell outside made it all sound BIG!

Kept it all together with a backing track in the drummers headphones
and a live guitar sent through a d.i.
to make it feel more organic. Eq's from the SSL duality and a bit of compression from the desk.
DAMN i love that desk!!!!

Myself and the Sultan of Gooch that is Tom Ryan, are loving working on this project coz everything just needs to be as massive as you can make it. Can't wait for the gang vocals part :)

We'll be adding guitars and bass next week so looking forward to riffage!
Nice one, first blog done. Wooo, thanks for reading.
